It’s a first…we have a man as a guest on the Black Woman Leading podcast!  And it’s none other than Laura’s husband, Marshall Knights.  Laura and Marshall will celebrate 20 years of marriage and 26 years of partnership this year. In this special episode, they talk about the leadership and self-awareness lessons they’ve learned from their relationship together and from parenting their children, Marshall Jabari and Kai, and they share insights on what they’ve learned from pursuing their purpose together.

About Marshall

MARSHALL KNIGHTS is a writer, artist, musician, music director, and Grammy-nominated & Grammy Winning producer. His attention to the art of music and ability to cross various music genres is why he is sought out as a creative collaborator by diverse artists in the industry.

Throughout the years, Marshall has also worked with a wide range of musical artists.  He believes the intention of the song is the top priority when serving in the producer role, as his approach to creating music is organic.

As a formally trained musician, Marshall plays several instruments, including the bass, trumpet, upright bass, and piano. His first solo album, The Marshall Knights Experience, showcased his talents as a musical maven. It was created to cross boundaries between the musical genres of hip-hop, R&B, gospel, rock, and soul.

In 2023, Marshall won his first Grammy Award for production on J.Ivy’s “The Poet Who Sit By the Door.” His sophomore album, THE ASCENSION, was released in March 2023, and is now available on all digital music platforms.
